Adding a fifth stage gives a longer stroke without increasing the closed length, which is useful when the body is long but the space under the floor is limited.

Each stage carries its own seal and guide, so the seal package quality matters more on five-stage cylinders than on shorter units. This cylinder uses imported high-grade seals throughout.
